A county owned, public use airpark, the Hancock County-Bar Harbor Airport (BHB) serves the city of Bar Harbor on Maine’s Atlantic Coast.

Located in Trenton, BHB is owned by Hancock County.

A busy summer airport, BHB was formerly Bar Harbor Naval Auxiliary Air Facility during World War II.

Covering 468 acres in southern Maine, BHB is served commercially by Cape Air and PenAir.

Maine Maritime Academy

A public nautical college, the Maine Maritime Academy is a Maine state college that offers its 900 students undergraduate degrees in maritime-related fields and professional graduate degrees. It is located in Castine near Bar Harbor.

Originally established in 1941, the Academy's goal is to prepare students for careers in marine transportation, maritime business, emergency management, environment, and other professional fields.

The Buccaneers participate in NCAA's Division III and the North Atlantic Conference. Popular sports include basketball, cross country, sailing, and soccer.

Roosevelt Campobello International Park

Located on the southern tip of New Brunswick's Campobello Island, Roosevelt Campobello International Park preserves the family summer retreat of Franklin D. Roosevelt and his family. Although located in Canada, the home is accessible from Lebec, Maine near Bar Harbor.

Surrounded by nature and sightseeing opportunities, the park's main attraction is the 34-room Roosevelt cottage. Take a guided tour of the house and hear stories of the President and his legacy of friendship with Canada.

Saint Croix Island International Historic Site

Set on the mouth of the Saint Croix River, which acts as the border between the United States and Canada, Saint Croix Island is managed by the National Park Service. Located near Bar Harbor in Maine, the island offers no public access but does offer a visitor contact station on the U.S. riverbank.

In 1604, French explorers attempted to colonize the island once they learned they were stuck for the bitter winter. Their stories of life and death in the winter and of Native American friendliness once spring arrived are told through guided tours and through scenic interpretive sites.
