Enjoy a Day of Skiing in Maine
Thanks to ski areas like Baker Mountain, Camden Snow Bowl, and Shawnee Peak, Maine is a major destination during New England’s ski season.
Neighboring Hermon Pond, the Greater Bangor Ski Area has six ski trails: Cloud Nine, Scenic, Lake View, Slow Poke, Lazy Lane, and Long View. Hermon Mountain also features night skiing, snow tubing, and lessons for skiing and snowboarding.
Established in 1961, Lost Valley offers 45 skiable acres and 15 runs – the longest of which is 2,500 feet. The Lost Valley Ski Area’s longest vertical drop is 240 feet, and features two lifts, cross-country ski trails, and one terrain park. Rentals and lessons are also available at Lost Valley.
For a more friendly time on the slopes, head to the Powderhouse Hill Ski Area in South Berwick – just 11 miles northwest of York and less than an hour from Portland. Owned by the Town of South Berwick, Powderhouse Hill has been operated by the Powderhouse Ski Club since 1964.
Formerly Butler’s Hill, Powderhouse has a top elevation of 240 feet, and a base elevation of 120 feet. This Maine ski area features three runs serviced by one lift, making it one of the most intimate ski areas in Maine.
